Brendan Casserly has been teaching Junior Science and Maths for over 30 years. He has also been teaching Physics at Leaving Cert (Higher Level) for much of this time.
Brendan has corrected papers for the Department of Education and has also set papers for the Examination Board.
After graduating from NUI Galway, Brendan emigrated to Nigeria where he taught Science and Mathematics for three years. On returning to Ireland he taught in St Mary’s Secondary School, Castleblayney and CBS Dundalk before moving to Colaiste Mhuire , Cork (now Douglas Community School).
Over the years Brendan has proven to be a prolific author of educational textbooks. His first physics textbook (tiled: Physics, A Basic Course) was published in 1981. This was followed by a science textbook (titled: A complete Course in Intermediate Science).
Two other books followed some time after the initial four, a second Physics textbook (titled: Fundamental Physics) and a science book (titled: Breakthrough Science).
Brendan is also co-author of the following textbooks: Physics Now, Physics Revision for Leaving Cert, Breakthrough Science (Second edition) and Breakthrough Science Workbook, all of which are currently in use in Irish schools.
